Scott Frost and the UCF Knights prepare for the season’s first Big 12 matchup against Texas Christian University (TCU), after a 44-30 win against the Georgia State Panthers.

With Alonza Barnett III suffering a significant hamstring injury against Pittsburgh, Keyone Jenkins took on the role as starting quarterback for the Knights against Georgia State.

Jenkins achieved 128 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception in his debut. Coach Frost praised Jenkins’ performance in the midst of Barnett’s sudden injury. “I’m sure with more reps he’ll just continue to get better”, Frost said. Frost also revealed that the offense this week will be tailored to Jenkins’ strengths and what he is comfortable with.

Coach Frost stated that he intends for Keyone Jenkins to remain the starting quarterback for the near future when Alonza Barnett III recovers from his injury.

Despite Barnett’s injury, his role as a leader and captain for the Knights has not changed. While his main priority is to recover and be fully healthy, Coach Frost says that Barnett is still involved in the team and the quarterback room to support Keyone Jenkins.

When asked about the TCU Horned Frogs’ capabilities, Coach Frost praised their defense, citing that the team does not give up many points defensively. TCU has only given up 29 points over a span of just 3 games. “We’re going to be in for a big challenge”, Frost said.

Coach Frost also said the strategy against the TCU defense will be to focus primarily on blocking assignments and adjusting routes for different coverages.

Georgia State suffered 3 turnovers against the Knights last week, for which Scott Frost gave credit to defensive back Demari Henderson, linebacker Tackett Curtis, and the entire defense for the ability to get these takeaways and take advantage of them.

With adjustments and reflections from last week’s game against Georgia State, Scott Frost and the Knights look to make a statement in their first conference game of the season against TCU.
