Get to Know the Seeff/Wolkenfeld SGA Ticket

SGA elections are right around the corner and with them comes that great time in the students year; free food, lots of fliers and countless campaign promises. This year the UCF students have two choices for the president and vice presidential ticket. KnightNews.com had the chance to ask a few general questions and help the student body better get to know the Daniel Seeff and Kevin Wolkenfield ticket.
Q: What is your year/major?
Daniel: Junior, Accounting/finance
Kevin: Sophomore, Poli/Sci Pre-law
Q: Why are you running?
Daniel: In the past I’ve been serving and I’ve seen situations that I believed that I could handle better, I thought I could help the students more. I feel like I’ve got what it takes to be SGA president.
Q: What reason should the students vote for you?
Daniel: Basically, we’re the same as every other student on campus. We aren’t involved in any SGA exclusivity. What happens is that people get involved as freshman and thats great but then they don’t take part in any other activities and the problem is that you are the one providing the funding for those organizations. We have been part of SGA but we also are aware of other students needs. We are able to see where the funding needs to go.
Kevin: I’m a senator right now, and its pathetic that there are funds that haven’t even been used that belong to the students.
Daniel: We’re both very passionate people about SGA and about the student body.
Q: If elected, will you have any power over the parking situation? If so, what do you plan to do about congestion?
Daniel: OK well the parking garages cost millions and while we don’t have much control directly over that we can lobby over that. As president you sit on the board of trustees and they decide what money gets allocated where. I think that everyone can agree we need another parking garage. Something we are working for is the shuttles. Right now, it’s great for the environment, so to have more shuttles going to off campus developments will be good for sustainability I think. Everyone hates driving around, its a mission to park your car, it’s easier to walk outside and hop on a shuttle. Sustainability is one of our main platform goals.
Kevin: Daniel is gonna be the point man and rep of the students and his voice is going to be heard at all levels.
Q: Would you consider increasing funds to club sports and other clubs in general?
Daniel: That’s definitely one of the main things we’ll work on with the new recreation and wellness center. I know there is a big debate about what equipment will be in there and that will be one of the issues we’ll tackle. As I said there is a massive surplus in the funds for organizations and we will get rid of that. Every organization will get more including clubs and including religious organizations, every organization who is eligible.
Q: How can students get more involved in their student government?
Kevin: There are many programs for freshman, there are mentoring programs, Daniel was a mentor. There are street teams, you can go to the senate meetings on Thursdays. We want to reach out to more organizations and get them involved in SGA.
Daniel: If you want to get involved just go to the SGA website and fill out the forms, there are a lot of positions.
Q: What makes you a better choice than your opponents?
Kevin: Basically I feel like we are more in touch with the student body.
Daniel: We are one of the students, we understand their needs.
Q: What is your favorite part about UCF?
Daniel: I would say game day. It’s every two weeks in the fall semester, it’s just a crazy day for everyone. I think everyone can agree with that.
Kevin: Spirit Splash, too bad it’s once a year.
Q: Describe each other in an sentence.
Kevin: Willing to work hard for the student body.
Daniel: Kevin’s a great guy he’s got a great future ahead of him, he’s very involved.
Q: One word?
Kevin: Dedication.
Daniel: Leadership.
Q: Will they be giving out any freebies by the student union?
Daniel: Well thats a secret, I can’t give away the surprise. I can say it’s gonna be creative and be prepared to eat a lot.
Q: What animal do you consider each other most like and why?
Kevin: A lion, he commands respect and he’s from Africa.
Daniel: A dolphin, because they have been known to help people and I’m willing to go out of my way to help others

I think you meant to write months instead of years. They were in SGA for 4 months, not 4 years- thank goodness.
Maybe you should doing something for your university and run for senate..
I’d wait for one, but I really don’t think they’ll be giving one anytime soon. I don’t think professionalism is their “style”
Where is Schumaucher/Corey 2010 — those two kids would tear down SGA bureaucracy in a few days.
What makes them not? Because they dont look like they have a stick shoved up their butts in this video? Jesus how about you wait for a meaningful interview or speech and THEN talk.

For someone saying expeience is key you know Seeff and Wolkenfield have something like a combined 4 years of sga experience between them. I’m sure they will take the job seriously.
These guys sound like nice guys but that’s about it.
I’m not trying to be rude, but their interview made them seem really casual and like they didn’t even care. Do we really want someone like that as our president?
Everyone makes fun of Mike, and you know what you don’t have to like him, we aren’t voting for high school homecoming court, we are voting on something important, so don’t vote because these guys are funny or cool, don’t vote the social vote. Vote for who will do a better job here.
its bad enough we already have an african american president of the USA, now this p.o.s. african is trying to be president of UCF? Just when I thought this school couldn’t get any worse…….

You said if you get to know them personally. That means you are bias toward their side anyway so there is no point trying to convince you.
It doesn’t matter about suits or not obviously he just said that it gave an impression. I haven’t picked a side yet, and won’t until platform goals are released. Like it or not though impressions mean something. The only point of these interviews is just a sort of meet and greet. I personally think that Seeff and Wolkenfield came across looking more at ease and more like they understand the common students needs.
Kilbride and Lochrane will take the job far more seriously. I feel much more comfortable having them represent the student body. Oh and, if you got to know Mike or Taylor, you would know that they are both great, fun, personable people.
I think they are in suits because they are creepy old kids who should leave already.
You are supporting a ticket based on whether or not they are wearing a suit. You are clearly a intelligent person and wise beyond your years. How about you wait for either side to release a platform or campaign goals before supporting someone?

Maybe they were in Suits because they are actually taking this seriously. This is not a joke, that’s why I will be supporting Kilbride/Lochrane.
I really liked this interview, I can’t wait to see more of Daniel and Kevin.
I can relate to these leaders. They are closer to my age and can relate to undergraduate students better.
A sense of humor isn’t necessary but it makes them more personable and like it or not politicians need to be personable to get things done. Seeff has been in SGA for some time now, He is just as qualified as Kilbride and looks to take SGA seriously and actually want to help. Why should I vote for two guys who show up in suits to an impromptu interview and ramble on about issues that are common knowledge and will be addressed by both tickets. What sets them apart?
I have worked with Seeff before in SGA and he is dedicated, passionate and a great leader. Unfortunately I am graduating in 2 months but im sure they will lead SGA in the necessary direction.
Just because you have never heard of them doesnt mean that they are unqualified. We havent heard anything substantial from them yet – so why dont we wait and hear their ideas (and the other guys to) before we start jumping the gun. A fresh voice might be something we need.
Are you kidding me? If these two are running student government, Sarah Palin might as well be running our country. Hopefully the other two can S.O.S.
This is a joke. Seeff is a nice guy and all but the SGA President needs to be more than just a nice guy. Never heard of them either. Other candidates have experience and well known connections.
A sense of humor is really something you should look for in someone who represents the student body. Good criteria for choosing campus leaders. Try again.
Seeff’s accent is awesome, thus he should win.
The Seeff/Wolkenfield ticket seems like the choice I’ll be going for. Kilbride just seems to ramble about nothing, these guys have a sense of humor.
This is clearly the better ticket. I want these people running Student Government.
