Wolkenfield stated he didn’t want to make a decision because he did not know about the Dream Act during THIRD READING! He had 2 weeks (if not more) notice that the issue was going to be discussed, and he should have been responsible enough to do the right research before showing up at Senate. How can he be VP if he can’t even do Senate correctly?
Side note: If he voted (yes or no, it’s irrelevant) on any resolutions pertaining to Bright Futures or Sun Rail (both discussed in Senate) than he clearly contradicted himself, because those too are political issues!
If he is too scared to make a public decision and take a side, how can he be expected to stand up for student issues in front of UCF administration??
Kilbride has a million platform points that are all exactly of years past. Theres nothing new or fresh. Its the same boring stuff. I feel like they dont really care about any of their platforms, they just tried to reach out to everyone without actually caring about what they are promising. I liked the video the Seeff put up, just in the sense I think its cool they want to be very open about what they are going to be doing.
I’m still undecided, but Kilbride came into my RSO and I was unimpressed. Seeff is scheduled this week, so we will see.
owned?
Don’t read this, this is message filler because it said my message was too short.
HAHA really cause if you check Senator Wolkenfeld was in agreement with the senior senators on the bill voting that its not SGA’s place to vote on political issues. When senators campaign none of their platforms is that they will vote to support every democrat or republican bill. Senator Wolkenfelds point was they were all about to vote on a resolution supporting a bill hundreds of pages which they as a senate had never read yet the senate voted to support. SO make an informative decision and vote Daniel and Kevin!!!
You clowns are reaching down there. God its so hilarious to see the desperate attempt by these pretentious assholes in SGA to shoot people down. You virgins are hysterical. ITS SGA PEOPLE! A freshman with ZERO experience can do everything that even our best president here has down. YOU ARE GIVEN THE TOOLS TO SUCCEED. THE ADMINISTRATION WALKS YOU THROUGH IT. The question is whether or not someone will listen to you and get your input. And im sorry, Peterson sitting down in the Union isnt taking input, its a PR stunt.
Get over your selves. Im not even voting.
It’s okay Joey.
Once people don’t get elected into office, they just go on to make ridiculous media outlets set out to attack the office they previously ran for. You do way more than these clowns would ever know. They were a part of the Berkowitz/Delanois administration. Let’s see….what platform points did they accomplish?
And if you want to talk about free paychecks, lets look at Berkowitz/Delanois cabinet opposed to Peterson/Andrick.
Logan/Brandon had a cabinet of over 50 and got nothing done except a better name in athletics and better lobbyists in Tally (thanks to Brandon)
Peterson/Andrick has less than 30 on their cabinet and has accomplished all of their platform points.
Now lets analyze people. Kilbride and Lochrane are both on Peterson/Andrick’s cabinet.
Seefe was on Berkowitz/Delanois cabinet and did nothing, but a license plate investment that got shot down because he showed up to his presentation HUNGOVER.
Wolkenfeld went to Senate ill-informed on the DREAM Act when people are forgetting that he is from MIAMI and that he supposedly deals with legislation in local politics in MIAMI. HOW THE F*CK CAN YOU BE ILL-INFORMED ON THE DREAM ACT WHEN YOU REPRESENT THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE THAT THE DREAM ACT AFFECTS!?!?!!?!
Shut up losers. No one cares what you have to say. As a former Comptroller and UCF Alum I can say that SGA is bull and the job is basically baby proof. You are given all the resources to get everything done, and the administration will get what it wants done regardless of whether or not you do. Dont make this out to be anything other than what it is – a popularity contest.
These two homos running shouldnt win cause theyll make UCF seem like a bunch of queers.
Mr. Wolkenfeld should not even classify himself as a Senator. He says “present” for roll call and then leaves. He wasn’t even there to vote on a bill for $4000 for his own organization. I challenge Daniel/Kevin supporters to actually research the candidates they are supporting before voting two clowns into office. Kevin almost got impeached from office because he is such a shitty Senator. Also, the words “Seeff” and “SGA” should not be used in the same sentence as he did absolutely nothing. NOTHING.
I ask that anyone who says that Wolkenfield has experience in Senate do a public records request and listen to the audio from 2 weeks ago when the Resolution concerning the Dreamt Act was passed on Third Reading.
While the Resolution was on 3rd Reading, Wolkenfield debated that he felt uninformed and would like more time to research the actually Dream Act Bill from US Congress because he did not know enough about it to make a decision.
Now for those that do not know about Senate, there is a First Reading of the Resolution, so Senators will know what to expect the following week, thats 7 days to prepare for debating the Resolution. Then on 2nd reading there is debate and everyone expresses their opinion before voting. Even after this vote the Senate has 1 additional week to do extra research and make a final decision during 3rd Reading.
Wolkenfield clearly did not prepare for Senate – how can anyone expect him to be prepared for being VP. He is clearly not ready for such a role.
Now I don’t care which way he voted – I can’t even remember. But let’s not put our $14 million in the hands of someone that can barely handle the task of being a Senator.
Come on, besides this message board that takes an hour to make (and I’m sure you didn’t even make it, the Web designer probably did), what outreach have you done for the other hundred hours youve been getting paid by student funds.
All I see is another campaign supporter that got a job for that reason alone, thats job security.
WOW THE COMMENT BELOW ME IS SO TRUE. they pay soemone to do something like that? isnt kilbride chief of staff? talk about giving away pay checks bahaha.
maybe i should join student government. but i dunno i like girls i might not fit in.
Joey – SGA needed to pay you to fulfill 20 hours a week (which is the minimum requirement for a SGA position on cabinet) to install a shitty message board? They couldve had anyone do that – for free.
So basically the greek community representing themselves here have called people nerds, douche bags – oh I’m sorry, d-bags, and bragged about how much sex they have… Are you guys 16 or something? That’s how you’re acting. Why don’t you grow up and come back with some mature discussions/arguments if and when you’re capable of it.
As far as I’m concerned, I would rather have a “nerd” running things at UCF because at least they’ll take it seriously and get things accomplished. The greeks that are making all of the inappropriate comments here (because I’d had to stereotype the greek community as a whole) – why don’t you just go back to hosting your parties, and having sex with all of these hot girls you’re bragging about since that’s apparently what you’re good for. I don’t take your kind seriously.
Kilbride/Lochrane 2010!
Unknown Observer,
This is indeed Joey Femia you are clever.
Office hours have not been spent commenting on Knightnews or Central Florida Future, though I frequently do to try and support the best candidate. My office hours actually been used to create the new SGA forum and Hotline that is officially up and running as of this week. Maybe you have read the Knightnews article about it? http://knightnews.com/2010/02/sga-creates-online-forum-and-hotline/
About promising positions… I only wish I had that type of security in continuing my involvement in SGA but unfortunately it is illegal and unethical and therefore has not happened in regards to Kilbride/Lochrane.
And if I wasn’t doing it to better UCF, what else would I be doing it for? It’d be a big waste of time if I was involved with SGA to just do it to do it? A little confused.
I’m down to discuss further if you would like… during my office hours ONLY of course.
joey i find it funny that u have been commenting on every article that is posted about sga elections. Im pretty sure ur joey femia. Im glad ur using your office hours and sga paycheck to spend ur entire time on the future and knightnews bashing the opposing ticket and defending rigourously killbride and Taylor. I wonder why you are so keenly defending them but i already know the answer that killbride has promised you a position on cabinet. much like he has every other position filled out.
but keep lying to yourself joey that your doing it to better ucf when the real reason your supporting killbride is because you have a position waiting for you if he wins. Thats what i call nepotism.
All these SGA virgins are making my head hurt. No one wants you guys running the show any more. Dont you understand?
Steven! Not gunna lie… you do hand out a mean pizza! Keep doing work bud. BTW I’m calling it now… Kilbride/Lochrane win with 70% of the vote. Anyone else throwing down numbers?
Daniel Seeff, the business strategist. It was a joke position created by a joke of a president who wanted to get his fraternity brother into SGA. He did NOTHING but get sga dollars in his pocket every 2 weeks for sitting on his ass. HENCE WHY THE POSITION NO LONGER EXISTS.
Kevin Wolkenfeld, the senator. Just because someones holds a title does not mean they are fit to do a job. IT doesnt mean that they do more than just the bare minimum to scrape by. I feel like if all you do is show up for meetings, then you really arent doing anyone any good. Can we say resume builder?
I’m not supporting either ticket. But im not going to sit here and not comment on bold faced LIES.
Knightnews.com, step up your game. Your reporters are jaded because they lost an election. So they support the underdog who clearly shouldnt be in office. They look at is as their way back in.
Get a grip, and gain some self respect.
No one asked you. Nerdy dbags like your self are the reason SGA sucks. Youve probably been working with them for a while on their campaign – so your opinion is useless. So how about you keep your nerd hole shut and hand out some pizza.
Thanks
No one fucking asked you. Nerdy DBAGS like your self are the reason SGA is so boring, dull, and useless. Youve probably been working with these guys on their campaign for a while, so just shut the fuck up and hand out some pizza.
Dear Discussion Board:
I stated this on the CFF website and I will state the same truths here. Daniel\Kevin: Lets discuss their leadership abilities because as we all know the President and Vice-President have a great deal of power and prestige. Daniel’s only SGA position was Business Strategist. That position was a non-utilized position, a title that had very little completed objectives or goals behind it. As students did we see any benefit from this position, was there ever a CFF headline that states “Business Strategist Saves Students Money” or “…Creates New Initiative.” Not to say everyone needs a CFF headline to highlight their work, but from an SGA standpoint anyone you ask will tell you it was a wasted position. To give a seat on the BOARD OF TRUSTEES to someone with such LITTLE TRUE EXPERIENCE is not only stupid but it’s IRRESPONSIBLE. As students we have ONE shot at putting someone on the Board of Trustees that will make a difference, if your option is someone with one year of wasted SGA experience or someone who led one of the most successful branches in SGA history who would you rather choose. Kilbride could promise me nothing at all and I would STILL vote for him over Seeff just based off of true experience.
Kilbride has lead the Orientation Program into a renewed success, he has taken Knight-Thon to the next level by DOUBLING its annual intake and donation to the Children’s Miracle Network, and he is leading a rambunctious group of 30+ students leaders to providing AMAZING new resources, initiatives, programs, and the new computer lab. What has Seeff done that even CLOSELY rivals this? Lets step out of our personal biases and look at the resumes of these two candidates, it shouldn’t even be close, not even a little.
I am voting for Kilbride\Lochrane and I will spend every moment I have available to show students that this campaign is the perfect administration for UCF SGA.
I shouldn’t even have to discuss the Vice President choices as my argument for the President should be enough. Be responsible students and look at what these individuals have done for us in the past because if they aren’t taking advantage of opportunities and changing student lives for the better now, then how can you expect them to do anything if you give them a nice salary and a large padded chair.
I was only replying to that person.
Anyone can produce express print labs. I could have accomplished that if I was in his position and had his resources.
Also, to touch on the previous person saying that Daniel and Kevin lack fiscal experience, I would like to point out that Senator Wolkenfeld currently sits on the FAO committee, which is the first committee on SGA’s website under the large section titled “Fiscal Committees”
And its description reads:
“Fiscal Committees:
Financial Allocations for Organizations Committee (FAO): The FAO Committee is responsible for overseeing the Senate Working Fund, the Speakers Account, and the Office Supplies Account. It allocates money from these accounts to registered student organizations. FAO hears all allocations and bills for Events/Performances/etc. on campus. The FAO Committee also reviews and makes changes to the Finance Code (Title VIII). The FAO Committee is elected by a majority vote of the Senate.”
So with Senator Wolkenfeld’s involvement in the FAO committee, in addition to Seeff’s experience being a Treasurer of an RSO, being a Senior dual major in accounting and finance and experience as SGA Business Strategist…to say that they have no fiscal experience is completely false. Do some research next time you want to make statements like that.
One great thing Mike Kilbride has done, Express Print Lab in the Student Union. I believe he was the fundamental person behind that project, and it has been a huge success since it opened. I could name many more, but you only asked for one.
Taylor will be 110% committed to the students, and serving SGA. And saying otherwise is nonsense.
I know both of these candidates, so yes, I have a bias. But I think they are both in touch with students, just as much as the other candidates, if not more.
One last thing. Why don’t people talk to the actual candidates rather than banter back and forth on this website. (I know it sounds hypocritical, but I’m just saying)
First of all, name one thing Mike Kilbride has accomplished for this school. And while Taylor may be smart and amazing and all of that, he is about to get his PHD, I don’t think he is really focused on being Student Body VP. Additionally, Taylor is out of touch with the student body and it is hard to relate to either of them. I could not see myself approaching them to ask them a question or discuss important topics.
Second, how can you say that Seeff/Wolkenfeld is a complete joke? They have plenty of experience in various organizations and positions throughout UCF. Daniel, an accounting and finance dual major who was Treasurer of an RSO, was in the SGA Executive Cabinet as the Business Strategist, so for you to say that he has no fiscal experience is clearly a statement made with no factual basis. In addition to him being Treasurer, he was President of that same RSO. As far as Kevin, he was not “almost impeached”. So I wouldn’t recommend mudslinging false information. Kevin is currently a Senator for the College of Sciences. As well as in his freshman year he was a member of the Student Body President’s Advisory Council where he shadowed multiple members of the SGA Executive Cabinet and learned how the cabinet functioned. Additionally, he is currently Vice President of his Fraternity where he oversees 20+ Chair people and coordinates the events of the fraternity. Their combined experience makes them plenty qualified to be SGA President and Vice President.
And as far as you calling him a “biggot”, be careful when making slanderous statements on the internet, IP addresses are traceable.
totally agree with SGAer blows. I know both Kilbride and Lochrane, and yea Kilbride can be a dick but everytime ive seen him be a dick it was because he was sticking up for students.
the guy raised 60k for dying kids for christ sake. what has seef and 4 month senator wolkenfeld done besides be greek?
SGAer- You are the biggest joke of all time. If Mike Kilbride was to not be here today, this school would not be the same. I can promise you that. Taylor is amazing. Probably one of the smartest people I know.
I know both tickets very well. Seeff/Wolkenfeld is a complete joke. They have no fiscal experience at all. Seeff was on cabinet for not even a year and tried one thing in his term (some dumb license plate) and it got shot down because it was already done. Kevin was almost impeached from office this past week in Senate and is a no-name biggot that has ruined his name in SGA FOREVER.
Seeff/Wolkenfeld will bring NOTHING to SGA, but corruption and more Lambda Chi’s. We all know how that ended up last time. Peterson and Andrick have done a phenominal job in Office (CFF has articles about them- go there, its actually credible). The same, if not better, will be done with Kilbride/Lochrane.
I feel like both of these parties feel no pride in UCF and are actually trying to tear it down with their misguided agendas.
I don’t like most people in SGA. I don’t like either of the tickets full-heartedly. I would say for the sake of not completely wasting a portion of our activity and service fee, please vote Killbride/Lochrane over the other ticket/joke.
All I hear is douche douche douche douche. Nerd nerd nerd nerd. Stop wasting my money that I pay out of the butt through tuition. You are clearly sucking this guys sack.
First and foremost, there are 30+ members on the SGA Executive Cabinet, “SGAer” please speak for yourself, and not the entire cabinet. (And I sure hope you’re doing something more productive than looking at knightnews during your office hours)
I have the pleasure of working with Michael Kilbride as Chief of Operations, and I have nothing but positive things to say about Kilbride(and Lochrane too!). He is an extremely open-minded, insightful, compassionate, assertive and knowledgeable person. And if you don’t believe me ask The Office of First Year Experience/Orientation Teams, Knight-thon, OSI, Greek Council, Dr.Ehaz and the Student Body Advisory Council, President’s Leadership Council, Multicultural Student Center, SGA Executive, Legislative and Judicial Branches… and the list goes on. These are all just a few things he has been involved with or improved upon in his 4 years as a student leader here at UCF.
I think he is a phenomenal leader and will make a phenomenal Student Body President at UCF.
By the way, Taylor Lochrane has completed his undergrad and masters degrees, and will be completing his Ph.D in Civil Engineering all at the University of Central Florida and all by the age of 23. Not only is that a fantastic achievement for someone of such a young age, but it clearly shows he is extremely intelligent and undoubtedly bleeds black and gold.
Clearly Daniel/Kevin are the better choice. Daniel and Kevin are good leaders who can relate with the student body.
Nearly Kilbrides entire staff hates working for him (he is current Chief of Staff for Executive Cabinet). That basically means that he has the most control over the Cabinet besides the President and VP . The guy is just a huge pain in the ass and doesnt listen to anybody but himself.
I have nothing bad to say about Lochrane because he has always been nice to me and no one really has a problem with him. He may be a little old, but he is a nice guy and people wouldnt be miserable to be around him.
I wish he would have run with someone else, because I would vote for him, but Kilbride literally killed it for me – no pun intended.
