UPDATE: KnightNews.com was sent the picture of the man holding two guns early Monday morning by a resident in the neighborhood.

The tipster claims this guy gets drunk, and “goes on crazy rants” about once a month. The tipster says it is the second time this month he has had an episode. We are working to get more information and will update it when we do.

Just after 6 p.m. tonight, several people living in the Tanner Crossings neighborhood behind UCF — a popular, nice community where many UCF students choose to live — called 911 because they saw one of their neighbors walking down the street with two high powered rifles, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office told Knightnews.com.

According to WFTV-Channel 9, the gunman was waiving two machine guns in the air and knocking on doors.

“Deputies responded to the subdivision and observed the subject outside his front porch; he no longer appeared armed,” Cpl. Susan Soto told KnightNews.com. “Deputies gave the subject instructions to step outside; however, he ignored the deputy’s commands and entered his residence. A perimeter was set around the residence and a call was made inside the home. The subject answered the phone and advised he would only speak with Deputy Shawn Wright.”

Soto said Deputy Wright is very familiar with the subject since he has dealt with him in the past. Deputy Wright talked to the suspect on the phone and was able to convince him to walk out of his house and surrender.

Soto said the man was drunk and upset about the recent death of his significant other. “He was baker acted (taken into custody for being deemed a danger to himself or others) and charges have been filed for reckless display of a firearm,” Soto said. “Deputies recovered 11 riffles and one shot gun from the residence. The firearms were taken into custody for safe keeping.”
