Original breaking news story from 3:56 p.m.
UCF SGA insiders have been telling KnightNews.com Mike Kilbride had been planning a presidential run for weeks, but within the last hour we’ve learned another candidate has just decided to challenge him for the top campus leadership spot.
Daniel Seeff and Kevin Wolkenfield were spotted outside of the UCF Student Union late Thursday afternoon, racing to get the required 500 signatures needed to declare candidacy before today’s deadline.
ELECTION PREVIEW STORY: Read the story, complete with an interview from Chief EC
Up until just a few hours ago, KnightNews.com had not heard of any challengers to the Kilbride ticket, which is rumored to include Taylor Lochrane as his vice-president. There were rumors the recently crowned UCF Homecoming King Kyle Schumacher, and current UCF IFC President was considering running, but it appears he has chosen not to throw his hat in the ring.
It’s still not clear which spot on the ticket — president or vice president — Seeff or Wolkenfield will go for. KnightNews.com is working to get this information and will be there for the official declarations filings, which is expected at 5 p.m.
We will have much more on this major story as it develops.

Daniel and Kevin are two very educated and involved individuals in sga and greek life and actually know alot of the student body unlike kilbride and lochrane who honestly nobody has ever heard of till today I’m excited for this years elections!
the fact is… everyone was talking about kyle possibly running… it was the word on the street. knightnews reported that those rumors did not come to be. up until i read it, i thought he still might be running. what’s wrong with reporting that? it happens in real elections all the time…
btw, i looked for info from the future on elections first actually, but had to come here instead because they didn’t have it up yet.
this sga coverage is reminding me of all that crap with will lusk. all i can say is thank god that he isn’t running… i hope we dont have to hear from him anymore!!
lolz,
First, I acknowledge you probably work for KnightNews. Second, I was merely pointing out the “rumor this” and “rumor that” in the article. Rumors are hardly the foundation needed to publish an article. Facts are needed – you need to cite your sources. Ever hear of writer Stephen Glass? Third, I already sense a bias for Daniel Seef and against Mike Kilbride. How about writing a fair story? Thank you.
common sense,
if you hate knightnews so much, why do you waste your time coming on here and bashing it? go find a better way to spend your pathetic days and stop trying to drag the rest of the world down with you. people like you are the reason there are so many problems in this world, just get on with your life, sheesh!
KnightNews publishes rumors. Real news sources publish facts.
MIKE KILLBRIDE GOT BLACKBALLED FROM DU
Crazyness. Did they get all the signatures needed by the deadline?
Schumacher decided not to run?!!? Pussy. This election will be a joke with no true leaders actually running.
On the flip side, bet you see bigger things out of IFC then you do SGA. Unfortunately, the rest of the student body suffers…
